The Institute is committed to making its findings available to the whole community, and we aim to make our website highly accessible.
The HTML pages on our site comply as far as possible with the Priority 2 checkpoints of the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI). These standards are endorsed by Australia's Government Online initiative.
As well as a wide variety of information about the AIHW and its work, the site includes full text of all Institute publications as PDF documents.
The Institute's published output consists largely of reports containing significant numbers of data tables, combined with analytical text.
Tabular information is particularly complex to convert into the more accessible HTML format. It also requires extensive additional markup to render it accessible by screen readers, which use a synthesised voice to read items on the screen aloud.
We encourage anyone who experiences difficulties accessing information on our site to contact us via .
In these cases arrangements will be made to provide the information in an alternative format.
