  1. In 2006 no data were available for dental hygienists in the Northern Territory; in 2005 there were 12 hygienists registered in the Northern Territory.
  2. As of 2006 the estimated numbers of practising dual-registered therapists and hygienists were reported as a separate labour force group. Dual-registered practitioners may practise in both clinical capacities or may be working principally as a hygienist or as a therapist. A dual-qualified allied practitioner, if not working in both clinical capacities, may choose not to register as both a hygienist and therapist in their state/territory of practice. Therefore estimates do not include allied practitioners who were dual-qualified but only maintained one registration type.
  3. Data for dental prosthetists were not available for 2006; 2005 data have been reported.

Notes

  1. Region is based on the main practice location.
  2. Dental prosthetists were not permitted to practise in the Northern Territory; the Northern Territory population was excluded in the calculations of employed prosthetists per 100,000 population.
  3. Not all rows sum to total as weighted data have been rounded to whole numbers.
