AusBoD 2011 working paper 1 coverWorking paper No. 1: Assessment of Global Burden of Disease 2010 methods for the Australian context

This working paper documents various aspects of the latest Global Burden of Disease (GBD 2010) methods and includes an assessment of the applicability of these methods for estimating the burden of disease in Australia.

It also includes preliminary recommendations regarding the methodologies that could be used for the national and Indigenous components of the Australian study which have been discussed and refined with the project’s Expert Advisory Group and the Indigenous Reference Group.

Note that the recommendations in this working paper are preliminary and may change as the project progresses.

Working paper No. 2: Methods for producing burden of disease estimates for cancer

This working paper documents methods for producing Australian-specific fatal and non-fatal burden of disease estimates for cancer. It describes our understanding of the methods used in GBD 2010 and the New Zealand Burden of Disease Study, and compares these to alternative methods developed for the Australian Burden of Disease Study. It is intended to promote discussion and inform debate around methods for estimating the burden of cancer.

Note that the recommendations in this working paper are preliminary and may change as the project progresses.
