The child and youth health and wellbeing project area is involved in developing indicators and producing substantial indicator-based reports on:
- Health, development and wellbeing of Australia's children.
- Health and wellbeing of Australia' young people.
The AIHW has been reporting on the health and wellbeing of children and young people since 1998 in the publications Young Australians: their health and wellbeing and A picture of Australia's children, with both publications now in their 3rd edition. These reports provide a comprehensive overview of a broad range of indicators which influence the health and wellbeing of children and young people, including information on health status and outcomes (such as health conditions, mortality, morbidity and disability), and factors influencing their health and wellbeing (such as risk and protective factors, socioeconomic status and community capacity).
