Board appointed

The Closing the Gap Clearinghouse Board provide strategic direction to the Clearinghouse, and ensure it addresses COAG's priorities for Closing the Gap. The Hon. Jenny Macklin MP, Minister for Indigenous Affairs, has appointed Professor Meredith Edwards AM as chairperson to the Board, and Dr Karen Martin and Dr John Taylor as its academic advisers. Professor Edwards is currently Emeritus Professor at the University of Canberra and has many years experience in applying research to government policy and programs across a range of issues relevant to the Clearinghouse. The Board has five other members including two Commonwealth representatives, two State/Territory representatives and the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.

It met for the first time in November 2009.

Closing the Gap Clearinghouse goes live!

The Closing the Gap Clearinghouse is a collaboration between the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) and the Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS). It is jointly funded by all Australian Governments. The Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, on behalf of the Commonwealth, provides half the funding and the other half is shared by the States and Territories.
