Changes to NPHIWG

A review of the AHMAC sub-committees is currently underway.

As a result of the review the National Public Health Partnership has been disbanded and the National Health Information Group has been considering the role of the National Public Health Information Group (NPHIWG) in the light of the current AHMAC environment and priorities. These include the creation of the two new AHMAC subcommittees; the Health Protection Principal Committee and the Health Development Principal Committee.

The Co Chairs of NPHIWG (Dr Penny Allbon and Dr Louisa Jorm ) have held discussions with key AHMAC stakeholders including Patricia Faulkner - Chair of NHIG, and Robert Griew - Chair of the Health Development Principal Committee. As a result of these discussions the Co-Chairs have concluded that the best way forward is for the NPHIWG and its subgroups (including the CATI TRG and the Blueprint Implementation Group) to be disbanded - as other former AHMAC working groups have been.

A new working group would then be created on advice from NHIG and the Health Development Principal Committee with its priorities to be determined by the parent committees.

The last meeting of NPHIWG will be held on 20 June. Future arrangements will be announced on this website when they are finalised.

Please contact the committee secretariat if you have any queries about NPHIWG.

The National Public Health Information Working Group (NPHIWG) is a sub-committee of the National Health Information Group (NHIG) and supports the work of the National Public Health Partnership (NPHP). The National Public Health Information Working Group contributes to the direction, development and review of national public health information. It does this through provision of advice on public health information issues and implementation of the National Public Health Information Plan

The committee includes representatives with public health expertise from:

The primary role of the National Public Health Information Working Group is to develop and implement the National Public Health Information Plan. This Plan, which is under development, aims to build the information infrastructure and evidence base for public health action in Australia. The Plan is based on projects identified by the NPHIWG members and those NPHP groups who have a role in public health information collection. The projects aim to improve the quality, coverage and use of public health information across Australia.
