CACP, EACH and EACH Dementia Statistics Online
Aged care packages in the community 2007-08: A statistical overview presents key statistics on the provision of:
- Community Aged Care Packages (CACP), which provide support service for older people with complex care needs living at home who would otherwise be eligible for admission to low-level residential aged care
- Extended Aged Care at Home (EACH) packages, which aims to deliver care at home that is equivalent to high-level residential aged care, and
- Extended Aged Care at Home (EACH) Dementia packages, which are EACH packages for people who experience behaviours of concern and psychological symptoms associated with dementia. The first EACH Dementia packages were implemented in March 2006.
This report is the tenth in a series of annual publications (see below), prepared by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, under an agreement with the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing. These statistics are compiled from the Aged and Community Care Management Information System (ACCMIS), the administrative data base which records services funded by Australian Government under the Aged Care Act.
These reports highlight the patterns of service provision and characteristics of recipients of Australian Government funded aged care packages.
Detailed statistics on the socio-demographic characteristics of care package recipients and the patterns of the recipients' admissions and separations are also provided. The data reported provides a summary of:
- growth trends in aged care packages over time
- the number of aged care packages approved as at 30 June;
- the number of outlets providing these packages throughout Australia;
- socio-demographic characteristics of care package recipients
- service provision in relation to 'special needs' groups;
- the number of admissions and separations between 1 July and 30 June; and
- existence of carers for EACH and EACH Dementia package recipients
- State and Territory variations.
The data presented in this report are a useful resource for those involved in policy development, policy review and the planning of aged care services with a specific interest in aged care packages provided in the community.
