Personal

Data elements in the National Health and Community Services Data Dictionaries may be used, for example, for demographic information. Some personal factors affecting health and well being have not been defined and classified, for example, genetic profile or coping styles. Where variables such as Occupation, Industry, Geography etc are collected, Australian standards, maintained by the ABS, should be used.

Resources

The Australian Bureau of Statistics maintains classifications of a range of variables relevant to these. Australian standards generally are based on international standards. These standard classifications, or classifications which are compatible with them, are to be used in health data collection.
