The health system expenditure series on disease and injury in Australia, provides a systematic analysis of health system expenditures associated with specific disease and injury groups. Disease and injury groups are defined as in the second Australian Burden of Disease study (Begg et al. 2007). Disease expenditure estimates, provide a useful description of the use and costs of health services in Australia, as well as a reference source for planners and researchers interested in costs and use patterns for particular disease groups.
