Job description
The AIHW is seeking a talented professional to lead the Executive Unit which is responsible for:
- Supporting the Director, Deputy Director and Board of the AIHW
- Supporting the Executive in their strategic planning and immediate response work
- Providing secretariat support to national information committees in the health community services and housing fields
- Managing the AIHW's privacy and data access arrangements
- Liaising with a wide range of external and internal stakeholders to stay abreast of emerging issues and communicate the AIHW's response.
Duty statement
Under broad direction from the Director and Deputy Director of the AIHW:
- Support the AIHW's strategic planning and immediate response activities with strategic input and professional organisation and liaison skills.
- Liaise widely with external and internal stakeholders and provide succinct briefings to the Executive on emerging issues.
- Provide secretariat support to the Board of the AIHW.
- Personally undertake or manage cross-cutting teams to complete special projects as directed.
- Manage the AIHW's privacy and data access arrangements.
- Manage staff who provide secretariat support to national information committees in the health community services and housing fields.
- Provide leadership and management to the staff of the Unit.
Selection criteria
- Demonstrated capacity for strategic thinking and planning.
- Succinct and effective oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage people and money to deliver against a diverse and evolving range tasks.
- Sound people management skills including the ability to develop the skills of junior staff.
- Ability to conduct and manage secretariat support.
- Understanding of national privacy and data access issues.
- Understanding of health and welfare issues relevant to the operation of the AIHW.
