Are you looking to get involved in interesting and valuable work aiming to improve the health of Australians? Here is an opportunity to conduct research and data analysis to monitor cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, diabetes or cancer screening. Our work is an important part of the evidence base for better policies and practices in these areas. In these positions, you will be involved in substantial statistical analyses, preparation of scientific reports and journal articles, as well as leading and managing a team.

Background

The Institute of Health and Welfare has six Groups: Health Group, Housing and Disability Group, Social and Indigenous Group, Economics and Health Services Group, Information and Strategy Group and the Business Group.

The Health Group develops, maintains, and analyses national data to support monitoring and reporting on the health status of Australians, and the factors that determine health. The Group covers a range of health issues such as chronic diseases, the health of populations, health risk factors, and environmental health. Many analytical sources and methods are used, including health registers, survey data, administrative by-product data, and health record linkage.

The Health Registers and Cancer Monitoring Unit monitors and reports on national cancer statistics and population-based cancer-screening indicators.
