This Register was closed by Department of Veterans' Affairs in 2009 and is no longer taking new entries. The listings of female Vietnam veterans and civilians have increased during the seven years that the Register has been operated by the AIHW on behalf of DVA. However the number of new registrations has been too few in recent years to warrant continued maintenance of this site.
DVA is committed to continuing to provide research into the health and well being of female veterans. This completed Register will be archived with AIHW and will be utilised by DVA for future research purposes.
Australian women who participated in the Vietnam War or have deployed with the Australian Defence Force are encouraged to register for the following two DVA research projects:
- Family Study Program - The Family Study Program manages a research program focussing on the health and welfare of families of veterans. The Vietnam Veterans’ Family Study, which is currently being conducted by DVA, is the first research project to commence and aims to provide a better understanding of the health and wellbeing of the families of Vietnam veterans. It will also investigate the intergenerational effects of Vietnam service. Subsequent research programs are planned which will focus on more recent deployments, such as East Timor. To register or obtain more information contact the Family Study Program’s Internet site— http://www.dva.gov.au/vvfs or email
- Wellbeing of female Vietnam and contemporary veterans study - This research will identify the experiences and effects of war service upon female Vietnam veterans up to forty years after the Vietnam War and women, particularly health personnel, who have been deployed more recently. DVA would like to thank the women who have been prepared to provide their details for the Female Vietnam Veteran and Civilian Health Register (FVV&CHR). Any enquiries about this site can be forwarded to
