David Kalisch can be seen speaking in his office.

David Kalisch:  Hi there, I’m David Kalisch, CEO of the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare and former graduate of the Australian Public Service.

The exterior of the AIHW building is shown.

David: The Institute is renowned for providing a friendly and supportive environment for graduates.

People can be seen enjoying coffee at a café, working at their desks and talking in break room.

David: Our graduate program lets you work alongside experts, while knowing that what you do makes a real difference to the health and welfare of Australians.
We really do try to achieve better health and Wellbeing for the Australian Community through our work here.
But it’s not all work and no play—we have a great social culture here too, and plenty of opportunities to take part in social and sporting events.

People can be seen playing handball and soccer.

David: We’re always looking for super thinkers, writers and talkers who also want to be part of a team. And you don’t have to be a statistician.

Outdoor scenes of a lake can be seen.

Cheree can be seen sitting in front of a bookcase. A caption reads ‘Cheree, Human Resources’.

Cheree: Our graduates are offered immediate access to a range of Learning and Development opportunities and are also encouraged to work across different projects in the institute.

Trees and the back of the AIHW building can be seen.

Cheree: We also offer financial assistance, so we help with temporary accommodation as well as removalist fees and also other expenses.

Theresa can be seen standing in front of the AIHW building. A caption reads ‘Theresa, Graduate’.

Theresa: The AIHW supported me applying to be part of the Parliament of Australia Program, that’s a program where a few graduates are selected to go and work in Parliament house for three months.

Shelley can be seen standing outside in front of a lake and trees. A caption reads ‘Shelley, Graduate’.

Shelley: As the graduates for this year we got to organise a fundraiser, earlier in the year, we did World’s Greatest Shave and it was a really good opportunity for us to get really good exposure across the Institute.

Tetteh can be seen in front of a vending machine in a break room. A caption reads ‘Tetteh, Co-worker’.

Tetteh: The AIHW also deals with welfare issues like homelessness and housing and so on. So it is a very great place because of the input and work tasks.

Sam can be seen standing  outside the AIHW building with trees in the background. A caption reads ‘Sam, Graduate’.

Sam: I’ve also had the opportunity to manage some projects here at the Institute and be involved in writing reports and publications all of which has been exciting because it’s related to the work that I’ve done in my academic studies as well.

Tim can be seen in an office. A caption reads ‘Tim, Graduate’.

Tim: Well having been involved in the graduate program from the recruitment side for the last few years, it’s also struck me that the people that come along are quite diverse, because they come from a range of backgrounds, they have a range of different skills, a range of ages, both males and females, so it really is for anyone and everyone.

Brendan is talking on a soccer field with people playing in the background. A caption reads ‘Brendan, Graduate’.

Brendan: Because it’s a very small place here people are really proactive at coming up with activities.

People can be seen participating in soccer, handball and yoga.

Brendan: So we play soccer every week, there’s handball, people can do yoga if they’re into that sort of thing, or Pilates. There are things that we do socialise in both inside and outside of work as well.

People can be seen having coffee.

Brendan: There’s a very strong community atmosphere amongst Australian Institute of Health and Welfare Staff and that helps a great deal in contributing to a great social atmosphere.

Suraiya can be seen standing in front of the AIHW building. A caption reads ‘Suraiya, Graduate’.

Suraiya: I’m 2004 graduate and this is a great place to work. Very flexible I like working here it gives great work-life balance to me. So I’m happy working here, don’t want to go anywhere else.

People can be seen having coffee.

David: If that all sounds good to you, take a closer look at what we offer and please apply to join us.

David can be seen in his office.

David: Like the many graduates we have here, you’ll be glad you did.

Bye for now and I look forward to seeing some of you here in the near future.
