The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare undertakes active evaluation of the National Minimum Data Set (NMDS) for Elective Surgery Waiting Times. (See Report on the evaluation of the National Minimum Data Sets for Elective Surgery Waiting Times).
This NMDS forms an important part of the National Hospital Elective Surgery Waiting times Database and informs the annual report Australian Hospital Statistics. This follows on from the evaluation of the NMDS for Admitted Patient Care conducted in 2002-03 and the evaluation of the NMDS for Admitted Patient Mental Health Care conducted in 2003-04 and the evaluation of the NMDS for Public Hospitals Establishments commenced in 2004-05.
As part of evaluation processes, the AIHW seeks feedback, and has provided a questionnaire on the usefulness of the NMDS for Elective Surgery Waiting Times as a whole and also on its individual data elements. The AIHW warmly encourages all interested persons and organisations to take part. Please feel free to contact us if you have any views you regard as important - .
