SAAP National data collection reports

The Institute produces a number of reports each year on the Supported Accommodation Assistance Program (SAAP).

The SAAP National Data Collection Annual reports provide information on people who received substantial support from SAAP agencies. These reports include information on the number of clients supported by the program each year, their demographic characteristics, the type of support required and the extent to which it was provided and the circumstances of the clients before and after support.

Also produced annually, the Demand for SAAP assistance by homeless people report looks at the demand for SAAP services (primarily the demand for SAAP accommodation) and the ability of agencies to meet this demand. Since 2003-04 both a report and a bulletin have been produced: the report contains detailed information and is available on the internet only; the bulletin is a shorter publication that contains selected data from the report, and is also available in hard copy.

Each year the SAAP National Data Collection Agency produces two thematic reports which focus on particular client groups that use SAAP services. Recent reports have focused on clients with mental health and substance use problems, children in SAAP, female clients and children escaping domestic violence, and SAAP clients with disabilities.

Other information related to homelessness can also be found in the Institute's flagship publication Australia's Welfare 2007 and from the Housing Assistance Unit.
