Data Issues: For persons aged 2-17 years, the age-sex specific cutoffs for overweight developed by Cole et al. (2000) should be used.
Numerator: Number of persons aged 2-17 years who have a body mass index indicating they are overweight (or obese) for their age and sex.
Denominator: Total population aged 2-17 years.
Suggested Reporting Categories: Percentage (of population aged 2-17 years).
AIHW Comments: Measured data are preferred over self-reported data. Data from the ABS National Health Surveys is for those aged 15 to 17 years only.
