Australia has an obligation to supply health and related data to WHO. These
data serve many purposes, including health monitoring, service planning and
research. Australia benefits from this in that it allows for international
comparisons of health, thus contributing to the collective good, and identifying
opportunities for health system improvement.
The purpose of this page is:
- To identify health related data sets supplied to WHO by Australian agencies such as the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW), Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing and the Australian Bureau of Statistics;
- To identify WHO publications that present Australian data and provide tables or links to them;
- To identify data that WHO requests but that Australia is currently not able to supply, and
- To identify methods used to transfer Australian data into published data.
Queries regarding Australian health data provided to WHO should be directed to AIHW.
