Mortality data are supplied annually to WHO by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. These data supply information on all registered deaths in Australia by year of occurrence, age, sex and cause of death. Detailed data for Australia, as well as more information about WHO mortality data, are available from the WHO Statistical Information System website (WHOSIS). More information about the Australian Bureau of Statistics, and their mortality collection, is also available. As well as mortality data, the Australian Bureau of Statistics also supplies population data, so that WHO is able to calculate age specific and age standardised death rates. The Australian Bureau of Statistics file specifications for both the mortality and population data give specific details about the format in which data is supplied to WHO. |
