The National GRIM books are Excel spreadsheets containing national mortality data, indexed by year of registration, age and sex, for specific causes of death or combinations of causes of death (according to ICD- 10). They have been set up to enable mortality data to be analysed over the period 1900-2010. However, data for all years and every cause of death may not always be available and thus, the starting year for each cause of death varies. Most of the National GRIM books start in 1907. All include the latest mortality data available to the Institute, presently for the year 2007.
More recent deaths data have been released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics:
Causes of Death, Australia (ABS Catalogue number 3303.0).
