A framework for national chronic kidney disease monitoring.

CKD monitoring framework (600 pixels wide)

The centre provides up to date information on chronic kidney disease using a wide range of data sources. Our aim is to support national efforts to monitor chronic kidney disease. This centre is located in the Cardiovascular, Diabetes and Kidney Unit at the AIHW.

Monitoring CKD is needed to provide appropriate, timely and valid information to inform policy makers, service providers and the public about the extent of the CKD problem. The role of the centre is to report on national trends and patterns of CKD using currently available data, and to identify gaps and deficiencies for national reporting.

The centre is advised by the Chronic Kidney Disease Monitoring Advisory Committee. The committee is made up of relevant stakeholders- eminent kidney clinicians, epidemiologists, a general practitioner representative, an expert in Indigenous health, and nursing and patient representatives.
