The Population Health and Primary Care Unit monitors and reports on six main areas:
- population health
- primary health care
- chronic respiratory conditions including asthma and COPD
- arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions
- mortality data
- international data.
The unit promotes improvements in population health and primary health care information, including working with stakeholders to identify data needs, gaps and options for data development. It also conducts national monitoring of respiratory diseases and musculoskeletal conditions, houses the National Mortality Database and provides official Australian data to the OECD and WHO.
