The Hospitals Information Improvement Unit has a strategic focus on hospitals information development, in the context of the national health reforms. It is the AIHW’s focal point for classifications (such as ICD-10-AM), contributing to national and international classification development, and providing a source of expert advice for staff working with classifications and coded data. It also undertakes hospital data development, focussing on admitted patients.
