The Child Development Unit (formerly SIG Coordination and Support Unit) undertakes work on a number of projects in the area of child development. The Unit is responsible for data standards work for the Early Childhood Education and Care National Minimum Data Set (ECEC NMDS). A major project undertaken by the Unit is working with key stakeholders to create a linked national early childhood development researchable data set to foster research in early childhood development across health, human services and early childhood education and care across the transition to early years of school education. In addition, the unit is undertaking a scoping study into the development of an online evidence base of effective attendance strategies for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students as a practical resource for school communities.
