Mental Health and Palliative Care Unit

The Mental Health and Palliative Care Unit undertakes a variety of statistical reporting, data collection and data development activities in relation to mental health and palliative care services.

The main role of the Mental Health team is to compile, develop and maintain a number of national data collections about mental health services. The team uses information from these data collections and other mental health data sources to report annually on the state of mental health services in Australia. The team also undertakes other mental health-related data development and mental health research projects on behalf of various Federal and State Government entities.

The Palliative Care team engages in a range of analytical, statistical reporting and data development projects in relation to the delivery of palliative care services across Australia. Many of these projects are funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing under the National Palliative Care Program.
