The Indigenous Community and Health Service Reporting Unit works across a range of projects focusing on data collection from Indigenous health and community services. Current data collections include the Office for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health (OATSIH) Services Reporting, which collects data on primary health care, substance use and ‘Bringing Them Home’ services, and the Healthy for Life program, which focuses on health outcomes and the quality of service delivery for Indigenous mothers, babies and children, and for Indigenous adults with chronic disease.
The unit has developed an initial set of national key performance indicators for Indigenous-specific primary health care services in collaboration with OATSIH, jurisdictions, health services and the AIHW METeOR team. Collection and reporting of data on these indicators will commence in 2011-2012. Additional indicators are being developed. The unit also provides advice on data collection and service taxonomy to OATSIH.
