Mental Health Services Unit

The Mental Health Services Unit's main function is to compile, develop and maintain the Mental Health Care National Minimum Datasets: Mental Health Establishments NMDS, Residential Mental Health Care NMDS, Community Mental Health Care NMDS and Admitted Patient Mental Health Care NMDS. The unit uses these datasets and other relevant Australian mental health data to report annually on the state of Mental Health Services in Australia.

The Unit also undertakes other mental health related projects under contract on behalf of various Federal and State Government entities. For example, it is currently developing an Eligibility Screening Tool on behalf of the Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaCSIA) for use by Personal Helpers and Mentors (PHaMs) Program providers.
