National health labour force series no. 28This report presents demographic and labour force statistics on the medical profession in Australia. It is based on the main findings of the 2001 national survey of registered medical practitioners. Information presented in this report includes the number of registered practitioners in each geographic region and in each state and territory, their age and sex profiles, areas of practice, medical specialties and hours worked.
