National health labour force series no. 29This report presents statistics on trends in the employment of nurses in Australia. It is based on the main findings of the 2001 national survey of registered and enrolled nurses, and includes registration and enrolment data for 2002. Information presented in this report includes the number and characteristics of registered and enrolled nurses in each geographic region and in each state and territory, their age and sex profiles, type of nurse, area of clinical nursing, work setting and hours worked.
