The AODTS-NMDS has collected treatment services information since 2001-02. In this time, there has been a steady decline in the number of episodes provided for withdrawal management (detoxification). There was a notable change in the number of 'other' treatment episodes in 2007-08. The number of pharmacotherapy episodes included in 'other' has remained similar, so the increase in 'other' episodes is due to an increase in non-pharmacotherapy treatments.
The collection guidelines for alcohol and other drug professionals provides a complete list of the definitions for all of the data items in the collection.
