These SHOR commonly asked questions are divided by category to help you find the answers you’re looking for, to assist staff in SHS agencies in accessing SHOR and uploading data for the SHS collection.

I’ve forgotten my SHOR User Name – what do I do?

Your SHOR User Name is generally 8 characters long and automatically generated by SHOR. It begins with your last name and always includes the first letter (or more) of your first name (this depends on the length of your last name).

  • Enter your last name, followed by the first few letters of your first name (to a maximum total of 8 characters), or
  • Speak with your organisation’s SHOR administrator, who will be able to locate your username by using the search function in the User Management tab.

I’m locked out of SHOR. What do I do?

  • Check that the web address is correct (https://validatashsp.aihw.gov.au)
  • Check that your user name is correct
  • Wait 15 minutes and then try to logon again
  • Use the Forgot password link to request a new password, or ask your organisation’s SHOR administrator to reset your password

How do I change my password?

When you first access SHOR, you will be instructed to change your temporary password (sent to you by email when your account was created).

  1. Log in to SHOR (https://validatashsp.aihw.gov.au)
  2. Enter your temporary password
  3. Enter your new password
  4. Verify your new password
  5. Click Logon.

NOTE: Passwords must be at least 8 characters long and include at least one upper case letter, one lower case letter and one number. Passwords are case sensitive. For security reasons, do not include your name in the password.


You can also change your password at any time. To do this:

  1. Log in to SHOR (https://validatashsp.aihw.gov.au)
  2. Click on the Change password link in the top right corner of the screen (next to the Logout button). This will bring up the Change password screen
  3. Enter your existing password
  4. Enter your new password
  5. Verify your new password
  6. Click Update.

NOTE: For security reasons, do not select a password that you have used previously.

How do I change my secret question?

When you first access SHOR, you will be asked to select a secret question and answer that will help you to get access to SHOR if you forget your password in the future.

You must set up a secret question and answer when prompted. Clicking Cancel will result in no access to SHOR functions.

To set up your secret question and answer:

  1. Log in to SHOR (https://validatashsp.aihw.gov.au)
  2. Enter your password
  3. Select a secret question from the dropdown menu
  4. Enter your answer
  5. Click Update.

You can also change your secret question at any time. To do this:

  1. Log in to SHOR (https://validatashsp.aihw.gov.au)
  2. Click on the Change password link in the top right corner of the screen (next to the Logout button). This will bring up the Change password screen
  3. Click on the Change password question link
  4. Select a new secret question from the drop down menu and answer it
  5. Click on Update.
