Today the Institute released provisional results from the 2009 Adult Vaccination Survey regarding uptake of the H1N1 or 'swine' flu vaccine (217KB PDF) up to 23 December 2009.
The Adult Vaccination Survey was a national study to provide reliable estimates of the uptake of influenza and pneumococcal vaccinations among Australian adults, as well as estimates of the uptake of other vaccinations such as whooping cough and H1N1. The survey comprised 10,231 households randomly selected across Australia, with interviewing conducted between 20 November and 23 December 2009.
The H1N1 vaccine was available in Australia from 30 September 2009 for adults and children aged 10 years and over, and from 3 December for children aged 6 months to 9 years of age.
A separate survey conducted in early 2010 provide estimates for children, and results from that survey were published in September 2010.
