This report presents findings from the annual Medical Labour Force Survey for 2000. It is condensed compared with reports released of previous surveys, for the purpose of accelerating the release of updated data and pending the release of results of the 2001 survey which are expected to be available later in 2003. Where appropriate, comparisons have been made with data drawn from earlier Medical Labour Force Surveys.

Dental therapist labour force data collection 2000
This report provides information on the dental therapist labour force in Australia. Data were collected in 2000 as part of the national dental labour force data collection. The collection was conducted with the assistance of the Australian Dental Therapists Association (ADTA) and the State/Territory dental services. A summary of the collection findings and some comparisons to the 1997 is presented.

Occupational therapy labour force 1998
This report presents findings from the first Occupational Therapy Labour Force Survey, conducted by the AIHW in late 1998 and early 1999. The information from the survey presents a detailed picture of registered occupational therapists in the States and Territories surveyed, including some of their demographic and employment characteristics. The report also includes data on education and migration within the field. To complement the survey findings, the report draws on additional data from the ABS census and the 1995 ABS National Health Survey.
Nursing labour force 1999
Every two years the AIHW conducts a survey of the nursing workforce in Australia at the time of registration renewal. This report presents statistics on employment trends of nurses up to 1999, and detailed findings from the 1997 Nursing Workforce Survey. This information includes the demographic and labour force characteristics of registered and enrolled nurses, and their geographic distribution. Additional information relating to hospital patient and staffing statistics from 1995-96 to 1998-99 was obtained from AIHW Australian Hospital Statistics annual publication. To complement the AIHW collections, data from other government agencies and the OECD have been included to provide information on the number of students enrolled in and completing tertiary nursing courses, migration patterns of nurses, areas of nursing shortages and some international comparisons.
Physiotherapy labour force 1998
Presents findings from data compiled in 2000, based on the Physiotherapy Labour Force Survey. This survey was conducted by the Physiotherapists registration boards in 1998 on behalf of the AIHW. This report presents information about registered physiotherapists in Australia, including some of their demographic and employment characteristics and their geographic distribution. The report also includes data on education within the field, as well as data from the ABS Censuses of Population and Housing, the ABS Physiotherapy Services Survey 1997-98 and the ABS National Health Survey 1995 to complement the labour force survey findings.
Health and community services labour force 1996
This report uses the Australian Bureau of Statistics census information collected in 1996.The information contained in this publication highlights the characteristics of the health and community services workforce and presents statistics showing employment by occupation, age, sex, industry, hours worked, birthplace, income and geographic region.The report also includes data on workers' qualifications and additional information, showing university completions and migration to and from Australia, derived from national education and immigration databases.
Nursing labour force 1999, preliminary report
Presents statistics on the numbers of registered and enrolled nurses from 1993 to 1999, and preliminary results from the 1997 nursing labour force survey. It includes data on the labour force status and occupation of registered and enrolled nurses in 1997, on nurses employed in private and public hospitals from 1994-95 to 1998-99, key statistics on nurse education and migration, and information on nurse occupations identified as being in shortage by the Department of Employment, Workplace Relations and Small Business (DEWRSB).
