Data sources

Data on the oral health status of Australians are obtained from national surveys or data collections associated with the delivery of dental services. The major surveys that are conducted regularly include:

  • the National Dental Telephone Interview Survey (most recent year for which data are available is 2013)
  • the National Survey of Adult Oral Health (most recent year for which data are available is 2017–18)
  • the National Child Oral Health Study (most recent year for which data are available is 2012–14)
