This web report supplements the Alcohol and other drug treatment services in Australia 2016–17 report by presenting key state and territory findings on clients, closed treatment episodes, and treatment agencies in 2016–17.
In 2016–17, almost three quarters of the 131 treatment agencies in Victoria were located in Major cities (72%), followed by Inner regional areas (20%) (Figure 8; Table SA.3). Victoria does not have any areas classified as Remote or Very remote, and only provides data on non–government treatment agencies that receive public funding. In the 5 years to 2016–17, the number of publicly funded treatment agencies in Victoria rose from 129 in 2012–13 to 140 in 2014–15, dropped to 129 in 2015–16, and then rose again to 131 in 2016–17 (Table SA.1).
