This web report supplements the Alcohol and other drug treatment services in Australia 2016–17 report by presenting key state and territory findings on clients, closed treatment episodes, and treatment agencies in 2016–17.
Nearly all (94%) clients in Victoria in 2016–17 were receiving treatment for their own drug use, and most (70%) clients were male (Figure 5; Table SC VIC.1). The picture was different for clients receiving treatment or support for someone else’s drug use (60% were female). These results are consistent with the national picture. The majority of clients (59%) were aged 20–39 years (Table SC VIC.2). Around 1 in 16 clients were Indigenous Australians (6%), which is lower than the national average (15%) (Table SC VIC.3 and SC.4).
