This web report supplements the Alcohol and other drug treatment services in Australia 2016–17 report by presenting key state and territory findings on clients, closed treatment episodes, and treatment agencies in 2016–17.
Nearly all (99%) clients in South Australia in 2016–17 were receiving treatment for their own drug use, and most (68%) clients were male (Figure 17; Table SC SA.1). The reverse was true for clients receiving treatment or support for someone else’s drug use (69% were female). Over half (54%) of clients were aged 20–39 years (Table SC SA.2). Just over 1 in 10 clients were Indigenous Australians (11%), which is lower than the national average (15%) (Tables SC SA.3 and SC.4).
