The following data visualisation shows tobacco smoking trends between, 2007 and 2022–2023, and vaping trends between 2016 and 2022–2023, nationally and in each state and territory. 

This line graph shows that between the 2007 and 2022–2023, the proportion of people aged 14 and over who smoke occasionally or previously has remained stable in all states and territories. Daily smoking reduced in all states and territories, across all age groups and among people aged 14 and over, it ranged from 4.9% in ACT to 13.1% in NT in 2022–2023. Current e-cigarette use has increased between 2016 and 2022–2023 across all states and territories.
