Discrimination

An estimated 1 in 5 (20%) students aged 15–64 with disability attending school or studying for a non-school qualification have experienced disability discrimination in the last year. The most common source is a teacher or lecturer (29%). See Discrimination for more information.

It can be difficult for some people with disability to access buildings and facilities in the community, including schools and other educational institutions. Around 1 in 4 (24%) non-school students have experienced such difficulty in the last year. Of those, about 1 in 3 (36%) had difficulty accessing a school, university or educational facility.
