The Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide, conducted between 2021 to 2024, inquired into the systemic issues and risk factors relevant to suicide and suicide behaviours of serving and ex-serving Defence members.

The AIHW supplied data and information to the Royal Commission through compulsory ‘Notice to Give’ directives. The tables published here are a subset of the data provided which were previously available to the public on the Royal Commission website. Due to the cessation of the Royal Commission website, the Royal Commission has requested for these tables to be made available here. 

These data tables were produced for the specific requirements of the Royal Commission. Caution should be used when comparing these data with other information the AIHW publishes on veteran suicide, for example, AIHW’s annual veteran suicide monitoring reports.
