Alcohol consumption

The following data visualisation shows alcohol drinking status and alcohol risk status by gender (per cent), 2007 to 2022–2023, nationally and in each state and territory.

This line graph shows that between 2007 and 2022–2023, the proportion of Australians aged 14 and over who abstained from alcohol increased and the proportion who drunk at risky levels decreased. The proportion of people who drank at risky levels, abstained from alcohol or who didn't drink at risky levels varied across genders and jurisdictions.
