I’m very pleased to see our summary report of alcohol and other drug treatment services in Australia published today. We’ve highlighted key findings for 2019–20 about publicly funded alcohol and other drug (AOD) treatment services, the people they treated, and the treatment provided.
In 2019–20, 1,258 publicly funded AOD treatment agencies provided just over 237,500 treatment episodes to an estimated 139,000 clients aged 10 and over. These agencies provide a range of services and support to people receiving treatment for not only their own drug use, but also for their families and friends. Many types of treatment exist to help reduce the harm of drug use - including counselling, information and education, and diversion programs.
