Reconciliation Action Plan 2018–2020 

The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) is committed to reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians. Our vision for reconciliation is a workplace culture at the AIHW that embraces both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians, and embodies equity, acceptance and celebration of our shared history.

The AIHW's fourth RAP covers the period from December 2018 to December 2020.

Annual report 2017–18 

This Australian Institute of Health and Welfare annual report 2017–18 reviews AIHW activities and reports on our performance in the 2017–18 financial year. It enables Australians to assess the efficiency, effectiveness and economy with which we provide quality, nationally-consistent health and welfare information. Our activities are guided by legislative and government requirements, in particular, the requirements of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013.

AIHW Corporate plan 2018–19 to 2021–2022 

This Corporate plan is the primary strategic planning document for the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW). It sets out the key strategic priorities and the activities we will pursue to achieve our purpose over the next four reporting periods from 2018–19 to 2021–22. It describes our purposes, practices and capabilities and sets out the ways that Australians can assess our performance.

Annual report 2016–17 

This Australian Institute of Health and Welfare annual report 2016–17 reviews AIHW activities and reports on our performance in the 2016–17 financial year. It enables Australians to assess the efficiency, effectiveness and economy with which we provide quality, nationally-consistent health and welfare information. Our activities are guided by legislative and government requirements, in particular, the requirements of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013.

AIHW Corporate Plan 2017–18 to 2020–21

It describes our purposes, practices and capabilities and sets out the ways that  Australians can assess our performance.

AIHW Strategic directions 2017–2021 

The AIHW’s Strategic directions 2017–2021 sets out how we will apply and strengthen our capabilities to achieve our strategic goals. It also serves to guide us as we work with stakeholders to pursue our vision of stronger evidence, better decisions and improved health and welfare.

Reconciliation Action Plan 2014 

The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare supports the principles of reconciliation and is committed to working towards them. We acknowledge Indigenous people as custodians of the land, and respect and value the persity of Indigenous cultures in Australia.

Our performance in the 2013-14 year is described with reference to these requirements and plans. The report complies with the requirements of the Commonwealth Authorities and Companies Act 1997.

Capability statement 

The AIHW is a major national agency producing independent, relevant and reliable health and welfare information and statistics to support better decisions, leading to better health and wellbeing for Australians. The AIHW informs policy development and public discussion by producing reports, datasets and other products—adding to the evidence base that is critical to good policy making and effective service delivery.

The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare's activities are guided by legislative and government requirements, as well as its strategic directions and contractual obligations. This annual report describes these activities with reference to these requirements for the 2012-13 year. It highlights significant outputs during the year that help to provide Australians with quality, nationally-consistent health and welfare information. The Institute's financial statements in the report comply with the Commonwealth Authorities and Companies Act 1997.
