Older people use permanent residential aged care for different reasons: some enter only briefly at the end of life, while others live in permanent residential aged care for an extended period. This Infocus report highlights that patterns of GP visits vary between people, as well as between residential aged care facilities. It also points out some of the limitations of only using MBS data.
