The AIHW Annual report 2021–22 features the following case studies, which demonstrates some of our achievements aligned with our strategic goals.
Dementia in Australia: delivering new insights about people living with dementia
Dementia in Australia provides the first comprehensive picture of dementia in Australia in a decade. Linked data have transformed our capacity to report on people living with dementia and understand how they use health and aged care services.
Supporting Australia’s ongoing pandemic response through our responsive data assets
During the pandemic, we supported hospital capacity and operational activity data sharing between states, territories and the Australian Government, providing a near real-time source of information on our hospital system.
Strengthening the family and domestic violence evidence base
With support from the Department of Social Services, we used the NIHSI AA to examine hospital use and deaths for people hospitalised for family and domestic violence from 2010-11 to 2018-19.
Improving access to local data for Indigenous communities
The Regional Insights for Indigenous Communities website was developed to provide data about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their health and wellbeing, in one place.
Better understanding the health and wellbeing of serving and ex-serving ADF members
In September 2021, we released the fourth annual report on suicide among permanent, reserve and ex-serving Australian Defence Force (ADF) members.
