This resource sheet assesses and summarises evidence on the effectiveness of programs relevant to in increasing employment for Indigenous people with a disability. The paper reviews evaluations of both  mainstream Australian and Indigenous-specific employment programs, as well as international programs.

Findings from this report:
  • Indigenous men and women who have a disability have lower employment rates than their non-Indigenous counterparts

  • Programs with strong links with Indigenous organisations, communities and employers better assist Indigenous job seekers

  • There are a number of different labour market programs that assist Indigenous people with a disability

  • The best way to increase employment rates is to directly help job seekers in the open, competitive labour market
