This figure shows that there were 8,982 young people aged 10 and over under youth justice supervision in 2021–22. Queensland had the largest number (2,607), followed by New South Wales (2,406), while the Australian Capital Territory (128) had the lowest. Of these young people under supervision, 46.9% were Indigenous and 79.2% were male. There were 667 young people aged 10–13, 6,703 aged 14–17 and 1,612 aged 18 and over under supervision. Overall the number of young people aged 10 and over under youth justice supervision has declined from 2012–13 to 2021–22 (from 13,099 to 8,982).
