This report presents information on oral health outreach services provided to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people aged under 16 in the Northern Territory. There were some improvements over time in the proportion of Indigenous children in the NTRAI OHP with tooth decay.
In 2020 the majority of children in the NTRAI OHP received services in Very remote areas (56%) and in Remote areas (29%)
COVID-19 restrictions in 2020 showed decreases in all three NTRAI OHP service types, when compared with 2019
In 2020, 4,454 Indigenous children in the NTRAI OHP had fluoride varnish applications to help prevent tooth decay
In 2020, 1,017 Indigenous children had fissure sealants applied to 4,187 teeth through the NTRAI OHP
