The Specialist homelessness services annual report summarises the characteristics of clients receiving support from specialist homelessness services throughout 2023–24, including the services requested, outcomes achieved, and unmet requests for services.

Key findings

  • 280,100 clients were assisted by SHS agencies in 2023–24 – more than 1.7 million clients since 2011–12

  • Almost two-thirds of SHS clients in 2023–24 had received SHS assistance at some point since the collection began in 2011

  • Around one-third (31%) of clients who needed short-term or emergency accommodation did not receive this service

  • Around 31,100 SHS clients aged 18 and older in 2023–24 were working when support began
