In 2024, in the 86 communities who undertook screening, 1,885 (89%) children aged 5–9 were screened for trachoma (Figure 23).
By jurisdiction
In 2024, the proportions of children aged 5–9 in at-risk communities screened for trachoma were 92% in Western Australia (295 children screened), 91% in South Australia (446 children screened) and 87% in the Northern Territory (1,144 children screened). In Queensland, screening for trachoma was not undertaken in 2024 (Figure 23).

Notes
- Data cover the 86 communities screened in 2024 (26 communities in WA, 15 communities in SA, and 45 communities in the NT). In 2024 NT and SA undertook additional screening as part of evidence confirmation for final-year dossier validation surveillance. For the purposes of simplicity, results from these communities that would not normally require screening in 2024 are counted as at-risk communities and included in results.
