GRIM data visualisation presents historical and recent deaths data in an interactive format. They contain age- and sex-specific counts and rates by cause of death, alongside other summary measures.
GRIM data span different years for different causes of death, depending on the data available. GRIM data for some causes of death start at 1907 and they are the only national electronic tabulations of deaths data by cause of death registered before 1964. Data from 1964 onwards are sourced from the AIHW National Mortality Database.
GRIM data include mortality data up to 2017. The ICD-10 codes used for the selected causes of death are listed on this page.
Machine readable forms of the GRIM data for the selected causes of death under interactive data are available on data.gov.au.
Data can be downloaded by clicking on the figure or table of interest. Then click on the Download function at the bottom of the page .
There are 55 selected causes of death presented in the interactive data. Contact [email protected] if you require an Excel workbook for these selected causes of death. Custom GRIM data for other causes of death can often be provided upon request.
